December 17, 2010 at 11:03 pm in reply to: Particular trail of fruit

Thanks again to the Cow! the ‘split clip loop’ in Particular works a treat.

Just one more thing though – having got my trail of mangos and strawberries working I want to add more dramatic perspective on the trail so we have fruit up close and then trailing off into the distance in a long line. Eventually its going to twist around an icecream…
But Im noticing when I start rotating the orbit camera tool to gain this perspective the fruit particles seem to start overlapping and going through each other which looks wrong. The velocity is set to 20 to allow them to slowly spread out. I’m guessing its to do with conflicting 3d space?

I also tried rotating transform world within particular but same thing occurred.

Any ideas how I avoid these odd intersections?

    ..many thanks again!

October 22, 2009 at 6:26 pm in reply to: Animation/ProRes Codec Confusion

That is cool. Thanks to you both.
I’ll try exporting from AE using ProRes, hopefully it is as sharp as animation codec, and will run smoothly in realtime in FCP.. and not have huge file size.
(is there any advice here on settings within ProRes to watch out for?)

Also will have to persuade powers that be to upgrade to FCP3, the ProRes 4444 sounds great!

For anyone reading I found this from Ken stone on the subject of codecs in FCP quite useful:

    Thanks!!

I understand the need to be organised when working in FCP, I find it surprising that MM diregards any bins that you create in your browser, or any folders that you create along side you FCP project file. It sort of throws all your organsation out! Thanks for your help anyway.

July 3, 2009 at 10:53 am in reply to: Add points to a existing mask

adding points to continue an existing mask has been driving me nuts, as AE seemed to start a new mask, forcing me to re draw the mask from scratch…but if you click on the last point of the mask from where you want to continue with the convert vertex tool (last item in mask tools), it works!!

    sorted.

March 20, 2009 at 12:57 pm in reply to: Quick Shortcut Question…

    Thanks Tom,

I’m cutting hours of vox pops… to speed this up, I have been bringing the clip onto the timeline, playing it back and then placing cuts in’live’ using the CtrlV shortcut. I can then strip out the Interviewer’s questions which are not needed and then trim up the ins and outs of my answers on the timeline using the trim functions. (Hit v then U then open/close bracket to trim either way…).
This is quite speedy so far…

Then I need to cut the clips from the timeline and place them in seperate seqs using cut and paste, this is fine but its at this stage I am forced to use the mouse to select the individual clips on the timeline!!

sound like a small thing – but with this much to get through I am looking to streamline workflow as much as poss!

    Cheers

    Thanks Dan, adding

    z = 550 + (wiggle(4,250) – value)[2];

    did the trick

As for the glitches, I started a fresh project, and it seemed to be cured! I think the Invigorator/AE link has lots going on in the background – with my numerous attempts at writing expressions I may somehow have corrupted the project file. who knows.

    Cheers,
    Eugene
