If the shot is static, you could always freeze the image and wipe/mask the top out, that might help.

I would scale in the SD timeline. It’s really nice to have the ability to move shots around, add a zoom, re-frame etc. I do it all the time and the FCP scaling is excellent.

Edit in HD an then downrez to SD. This gives you a master in HD for later use, plus, it looks so much better to show a client your project in HD.

Yes, I have an HDX900. There was a lot of talk a while back about not being able to get TC out the 900 into say, an AJA Kona. I tried and could not get it. I quit trying. How are you getting it?

You can’t get TC on the HD-SDI outputs either. So, I bet you don’t get it on SD-SDI. You do get TC on the Firewire out though.

Did you use a 1/2 shutter while shooting? That is the only way to make 24f shooting look correct. Also, what type/brand monitor were you using on the shoot? Some my not show you exactly what you are shooting.

Horizontal stretching is nearly impossible to see. The images are excellent and if you saw the two side-by-side, you’d be hard pressed to tell the image difference. I’ve mixed both images together and depending on who shot it, sometimes the Panny looks better.

My mega timelines are simple talking heads. I have a big corporate client that loves to send out video emails. So, I shoot all their sales guys doing a simple 1 min promo. Then edit them down to WMV and they send them out as video emails. Sure, it’s not for the reel, just the meal! And in this economy, I’m lucky to get that much work.

Media Manager did good. I have about 99% of my render files. Whew! Not sure why it didn’t copy a few?

Thanks guys for the ideas.
I’m now trying to move all the files with Media Manager. Let’s see if that works. (I just copied the Media folder from raid to raid, that didn’t work)
