Embedded TC on HDX-900 Downcon mode
Trying to see if anyone may have an answer. I’m connecting the video out of the HDX-900 to a SD recorder. I have the down convert on the side of the camera set to SD-SDI as the video output mode. (set for a 4/3 and S-Crop cut in menu). Both channels of audio are showing up on the SD recorder, but I’m not seeing TC. Question; Should TC be embedded in the SD-SDI selection on the HDX-900 camera? Or am I overlooking something?

I just spent 30 minutes with the user manual and I can’t see anyplace that shows the TC embeded on the SDI connection. On page 44 it shows a multi camera and recorder setup and there it has the TC out from the camera to the Deck. I thought all of that stuff was supposed to be embedded but perhaps not. But just to be sure is there a menu option on the recorder for TC in to come from SDI?best

You can’t get TC on the HD-SDI outputs either. So, I bet you don’t get it on SD-SDI. You do get TC on the Firewire out though.

Ernie: I should correct your comment about the TC on the HDX-900. I always get embedded TC and Audio out of the HD-SDI switch with the HDX-900. Never a problem. Are you using the same camera?

Yes, I have an HDX900. There was a lot of talk a while back about not being able to get TC out the 900 into say, an AJA Kona. I tried and could not get it. I quit trying. How are you getting it?

I’m pulling embedded TC,video and audio directly out of the monitor out on the side of the camera via BNC. The Downcon switch controls the video out on the rear of the camera. You can hurt yourself by using the video out to record from if you don’t have the Character switch off and the Cam/VTR switch on Cam. I only use the video out for my onboard monitor unless I have to do a down convert from the camera.
