    “Steep learning curve”?

    Michael,
I was in the same place, upgrade to M100HD or move on.

I was up and running the first day in FCP and finished my first 7 min corporate edit (with clients) the same week. Sure, I don’t know everything, but I figured out all the basics the M100 does in one day (Thanks in part to the COW) Now, it’s awesome doing all the stuff I could never do and only imagine!

Sorry about bitchin’ folks, but like many, I felt let down and didn’t want to invest big bucks in a shaky company. If they would have treated us old timers better with BIG discounts to upgrade, I might have stayed, but…

    Jeremy,

Don’t do it! Go FCP. As a former M100 user since V4, I just went FCP5 G5/DP2.7 and it’s amazing in everyway. Way above my expectations. I still have my Version 8 system on the old G4… I hate to even turn it on.

Thanks for the info, but I have one more question…

I can add the smooth to the scale & rotation, but not the Center.
    How do you do that?

After reading the Macguru’s article about the Maxtor drives having incompatiblity issues, I decided to go with Hitachi drives and the Firmtek card/bays. Thanks for all your help!

What physical drives should I get? That article listed the Maxtor Maxline III, the Maxtor DiamondMax 10, and the Hitachi 7K250 and 7K400 drives.

You guys use any of the above drives?

  • Not sure if this helps, but I just had some issues exporting (Printing to EDL) an EDL to AVID. The problem ended up being, I was trying to create an EDL with more than 1 video track. As soon as I amended it to one track, it exported fine. All I can say is, that worked.

It must be something in the breakout box or it’s cable. I’ve tried a couple of S cables and they all work fine. Oh, well… guess I should have checked that out 8 years ago! I thought it might be something SW related.

  • Leo thanks.

I’m not editing on my NLE. I’m going to a facility with a Quantel Editbox.
They are requesting DigiBeta. The spot is going for broadcast only, not DVD.

    Floh,

When I downloaded your link, uncompressed it. In the folder, there are two things, another folder titled MACOSX (Ewhich is empty) and a file titled ‘Media 100 Codecs Install’

But when I click on it, it says…
“There is no default application specified to open the documen Media 100 codecs Install”

    Huh?
