Sorry, but are you saying you are removing the AE integration or just that it will take a little longer to finish that feature? If it’s just going to take longer, can you give an estimate when the full-featured version will be ready?

Thanks a lot for checking. I’m on Windows 7 so maybe that has something to do with it.

Anyone else running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit with CS5 and having this problem?

I also noticed that if you select multiple layers and click/drag across the add/remove keyframe buttons instead of the stopwatches to set keyframes for more than one property it also deselects all of the other layers.

I do that all the time too and it does save a lot of render time.

It’s best to wait until you’re done with all of your tweaking before splitting the clips or it will be a pain trying to keep all of the sections of the clips synchronized.

Your font size might be too small or something so try resetting the character in the Character Palette menu. That sets everything back to default except for the color.

Thanks for the link to FAQ page but I’ve already been through all of the usual troubleshooting routes and nothing is having any effect, which is why I’m asking for help here.

As I mentioned in my original post, CS3 is working fine and CS5 is rendering at the exact same speed as CS3 from the render queue, but is waaaaaaay slower with RAM previews and timeline interactions. Today, I ran the same test again and it took one minute and forty five seconds to RAM preview the same clip that took CS3 eleven seconds to preview. To me, that means that something is seriously wrong.

I’ve tried all conceivable configurations for memory allocation and tried to turn multi-processing on and off, enabled/disabled disk cache, turning off anti-virus, etc., etc., etc..

There are no other programs running at the same time so AE is not competing for resources with another app.

Could something have gone wrong with the installation? Does it matter that I have CS3 installed on the same machine? I’m totally stumped.

A way around this would be to put them all into a folder and import the folder using the “import folder” button. Once you have them in the project they should sort correctly in the project panel in numeric order from top to bottom so select all of the images by clicking on the first one first and then shift clicking the last one (the order you select them in determines the order they will appear in the composition) and drag them to the “new composition” icon at the bottom of the project window and set it to:
– single composition
– still duration of 1
– sequence layers
– uncheck “overlap”

This will give you a pre-comp that’s basically the same as an image sequence.

Do RAM previews play back smoothly in After Effects? Are you viewing the rendered mpeg movie on a computer screen or watching the DVD on a television? If on a computer what are you playing them back with – quicktime, windows media player, windvd, etc.? Maybe try playing it back with a different app or on a different computer or TV.
