What type of source footage are you using? If it’s a heavily compressed format like H.264, mp4, mpg, etc. that would be my first suspect. If so, try converting to a more suitable editing format.

Check out CompsFromSpreadsheet at aescripts.com. I’ve used it on a couple of projects and it works great. Just be sure the filenames and everything are spelled exactly the same as they are in the spreadsheet or it will give you errors.

One thing you could try is to pre-compose the 60fps footage in a comp set to 60fps and go to the comp settings>advanced tab and check “preserve frame rate when nested”. Then nest that comp inside of a 24fps comp and see how it looks. It might be a little jerky or it might look fine since it does have 60 frames to work. You’d just have to try it and see.

If I understand what you are trying to do I would suggest just pre-composing the two video layers in two separate comps and fading between the comps. One comp would contain the two layers with effects applied and the other without.

Sorry, meant to tell you to make a backup of the files first if you want to restore them if it doesn’t fix your problem. I can’t recall the location but just google “After Effects delete preferences” or something like that and you’ll find it. Same goes for Premiere Pro. I would do them both because you don’t know which one might be messed up.

Also, you might try to delete the preferences for AE and PPro. That fixes a lot of buggy issues and you can always restore the files if it doesn’t work so you won’t lose all of your settings for nothing.

Restart AE while holding down the Command + Option + Shift keys (Mac) or Control + Alt + Shift (Windows), and you are presented with an option to delete the preferences. -
I would try opening a previous version or auto-saved version. You could also try turning off your anti-virus software and try to open the projects. Dynamic link has been known to be blocked by some anti-virus software, in my case it was PC Tools Internet Security, which has caused all sorts of problems with Adobe and other apps.

You’ll probably need to track the shot, or since a flash is only a frame or two you could just adjust the position to match the camera shake manually, and then add your gunshot flash where you want it and mask it so it’s only showing where the glass is in the shot. To make it more convincing you could add a daylight shot (a still would work fine) of the yard and just color correct and mask it so it looks like the yard is being lit up by the gunshot. You can also check videocopilot.com for some great tutorials on muzzle flashes and explosions, etc. that will probably help.

Maybe check that you didn’t accidentally switch the text layer(s) to draft mode. It’s the diagonal line in the layer switches.

It’s probably just a glitch in your system. I would try to restart the computer and see if that fixes it.
