Sorry Petros, the article is actually about support for HARDWARE ACCELERATED h.264 output directly from Premiere Pro on Windows only.
The plug in is a free “hook” into the closed Adobe API. Adobe have not implemented it into the Mac OS X version of their hardware. Hmmph…
If you read the article it explains that the plug in would do better except for the fact that Adobe has a closed API- “Since this is a plug-in there are inherent performance limitations (imposed by the Adobe plug-in API) that cannot be eliminated unless natively integrated with the product.”

You can also just deselect the “target” switches in the timeline. “a1,a2,a3” etc…
This will ensure that only video is brought in. Conversely, it works the same for bringing only audio in. Uncheck the video “target” track and only audio will come in.
Cuz sometimes that’s what you want the timeline to behave like.

No, it IS an Adobe/Nvidia limitation.
10 bit is possible through Geforce and Quadro cards. Adobe blocks Geforce cards from outputting a 10 bit signal-simple. Adobe/Nvidia want us to buy Quadro cards : )Nvida allows Geforce to output 10 bit video only for movies, games etc…not for editing. It is a software block, nothing less.
But if you look at the cost of an AJA card and a high end Geforce, that just about equals a Quadro card. The Quadro card is a much simpler solution if all you need is 10 bit output for say an HP Dreamcolor monitor.

I am sending it to Apple after my next video is posted. Corporate wants to look at it. There are many out there like this one, but this one is mine! Seems only Video and Photo editors can “see” the problem.
Test:
Put up a picture of a human face on the desktop using preview. Make it a decent-screen filling size.
Next, stand so you can tilt the screen a few degrees up or down. You will see the contrast/saturation/HSV all change dramatically with just a little tilt. Wonderful.Mine goes like this. Tilt back, over-saturated and warm. Tilt forward washed out and blue.
My old macbook pros were never this bad and I’ve owned them all since the PowerBook g4’s.

Screen is at native resolution. 1920×1200, colorsync profile is different every-time.

Can you see the blue/purple at the bottom? Can you see the dark vertical streaks going through the middle of the screen. Can you see the light bleed at the left and right sides of the screen? Also it appears that there is about a 2-3 degree angle that is “ok” for viewing. If I have my head a little higher, the image becomes washed out, lower my viewing angle and the image becomes overly saturated.
This is definitely a bad screen or a case of “emperors new clothes”. The screen is the 9CD0 Samsung variety. This screen is getting torn apart by reviewers, I do not like it one bit in my $3000 laptop. It is worse than the cheapest Dell.
Just look at that mottled screen. There is an LG screen that Apple uses and the consensus is that is the one to have. Unfortunately this is my 4th screen, in this laptop, from Apple.

Basically Premiere being more and more ridiculous as time goes on. A 3 minute movie that takes FCP 1.5 minutes to export is taking Premiere over 20 minutes(probably longer then that, the “time Remaining” is toggling between 18-22 minutes for the last 5 minutes). This is after I have rendered previews. The video is a talking head over a motion background(movie clip) with a couple supers here and there, newscaster style.
Nesting does NOT work correctly in Premiere Pro, might as well not even have it as an option. Nesting resets audio and removes audio effects, ie do it all over again. Mutes are ALL unmuted. WTH!
I tried sending the sequence to after effects but that was worse. I use Boris Continuum for keying, choking and wrapping. The keys came across as blurred but keyed video and my project was exploded.
What is the solution, Avid? FCPX, no way. Stick with FCP 7 and transcode everything, don’t like that option either but it may still be the most professional solution for “non-professional” editing software.

Ron, you don’t have to consider anything…just make a Mater HD file for every project. If it does not make sense now it will later, especially when you have to transcode to other formats or a project file becomes corrupt. That is all.
Hey, why not do a test? Render out the Master, then transcode a few different formats/frame sizes from Media Encoder. Then export form the Premiere timeline the same codecs, one by one, and clock the differences.
I await the outcome.
Also, mess with the filename of the last project file that you did( make sure it is for a paying client) until it is corrupt(change it to .jpg, then .mpeg, then .flac whatever). Then see how fast you can recreate the project and output delivery. Or just transcode the Master file that you now have incorporated into your workflow to the clients format. See which one is quicker and saves your backside!
