What level does the -20 tone comeback at on your system? You should align your system to the -20 tone from the source media. Broadcast standards are tone @-20dbfs and nothing hotter than -10dbfs.

No you’re not way off base. That’s why it’s on CL. The sad part is someone will take the gig for the price offered. Reality gigs are pack mule audio.

What you experienced were RF hits. Cause usually unknown. After 1 or two hits a frequency scan on the receiver would be in order to find a clear path although that is no guarentee but it would get you off the frequency with the hits.

Unless the shot requires that distance move the mic closer. It should be just above the frame line. If you need the headroom for the shot that forces you to go 5′ from the talent then use a wireless system. If you get closer with the boom mic then you should consider a cardioid or hyper cardioid mic instead of a shotgun.

I’m not aware of any “automatic” setting on a G2 wireless. If you’re using one transmitter & two receivers than everything has to be on the same frequency. Your crackling sound is most likely caused by either a loose connection at the transmitter input or a bad connection in the mic connector.

Leave one set at the factory setting of 518.200, change the other set to anything you want. If you get a clean frequency with out any RF noise you’re good to go. If you have an RF problem do a frequency scan to find a clear channel. Keep the squelch at the lowest setting.

Ok,let’s see if I can help you through the procedure. When you turn on just the transmitters are the frequency numbers in the display windows the same or different? If they are different then the matching receivers should be the same as it’s transmitter. Each set should have the same numbers but different from the other set. If they are different than you’re ahead of the game.
Go into the menu of each piece to set the sensitivity or RF output. Set the tx (transmitter)at -20 and the rx (receiver) at about the same. All is explained in the operating manual, just focus on one parameter at time. It’s alot easier to talk than type so if you’re really stuck call me and I’ll try to talk you through the setup procedure.
