I see the same here. 6-Core with dual 700 and a BM mini-monitor.
When you hit play the system hiccups, and you´ll loose some frames. Otherwise the system ist very fast and we have a Promise R6 TB2 Unit for Storage (so it can´t be that).
When we open the same project on a 2006 MacPro with a decent hardware raid = no hiccups.
    Ups!

I´m assuming FCPX will only benefit from the card that is running the GUI. So you should get rid of the 5770, since this is not resolve (resolve will benefit from a high-end GPU alongside a weaker GUI card)
However, I never tested that. But since you have a power-problem, thats another reason to trash the 5770. You should put the 7970 in to the 16x slot.
I guess it will run quite good with FCPX – However: Why didn´t you ask before you bought it?

I have the same problem. op mfx-files created in resolve are somehow corrupted. Avid or Sony Content-Browser will not load them.
there was a previous posting about this…

That´s a typical Broadcast Spec from what i can see. I would guess it´s ok if you deliver your Stereo-Mix in a 8 Channel-Audio Track. You just setup roles that it delivers the stereo track + 6 muted channels extra.

by recording log you could have more control over your image in post and boost your results with a little tweaking in resolve…
but I would´t do that with avchd. I guess also avchd is giving you a lot of noise in the blacks in the first place. rent a samurai an try for yourself. or have a look at Phlipp Blooms Blog.
he compared different methods of recording from a fs700 in depth…

    Have you tried log?
Do you use AVCHD or an external Recorder?
Did you check your ISO or Gain Settings?
What kind of glass are you using?

There is plenty of stuff that could hit your blacks….

October 17, 2014 at 9:08 am in reply to: AVCHD 50p not Optimized

    Hi,

the problem is not the samurai. It did not run because of a misconfiguration by the DP…
So we had to use the SD-Cards with AVCHD-Codec….

But I´d like to know: Is an up to date Mac not powerful enough to play 50p AVCHD?
We are storing the Media on a Pegasus R6 TB2 Raid. That sports over 500 mb/sec…
Even in ProRes 50p is roughly 40 mb/sec…

I heard about problems with 50p when FCPX came out. But usually we shoot 50i because we deliver broadcast specs, so we never ran into this…

There is optimized Media in the Transcoded Media Bin. When we open that with Quicktime or mfx4mac it plays fine. In FCPX it´s just crap…

So, is FCPX the problem? A wrong configuration. Or is there anything wrong, at all?

    They are finished transcoding.
The Info on the Video-Tab shows avchd instead of prores.
they don´t play. ProRes clips do play.
