  • Usually, a PreComp of the text is used as an instance.

Then apply whatever effect in layer comp.

    Love the example, Filip.

Do you have a tutorial for that?
Would love to use it for future classes 🙂

After Effects uses your local (or selected mounted) drive as a scratch disk.

    PC or Mac?

You can change it in the preferences.

But make sure you have space on your local or selected drive.

Do not use USB jump drives for this.

No mods other than buy the most ram possible at the initial purchase.

We did upgrade the tubes ram to 64GB for both D500/D700s.

MacBooks I tend to reformat once a year and try a new flavour.

Since they are for backup/onset use we can afford to be offline for a few days with them.

I find cleansing the best remedy for a slow Mac.

In Creative Cloud, select the “…” button beside “Installed After Effects” row.

There you can select “Other Versions”.

The button is beside the “Open” button.

I’m running CC 2021 on a few older Mac Pro 2013s and MBP 2015.

    So spot on Michael 🙂

The landlord fixes the toilet then a day later the sink stops working.

Pretty well sums it up when we get these updates 😛

I’ve been an instructor since 1994 and of late I’ve lost patience with some of the questions.

I try not to get involved but then I feel bad if I don’t put in my two cents.

Friends don’t let friends do awful workflows 🙂

I do get why this option doesn’t exist.

Not an excuse but working in the RED ecosystem, we don’t cut our clips down to length.

Simply just rely on keeping the R3D files intact.

Keeps us from having loose ends.
