  • You can use a BMD Intensity Pro or DeckLink.
I tested with their Tempo SSD Pro and had 15fps with RAW from BMCC (thanks John Brawley).
With any HD format its butter.
Cant use it as GPU expander though.
All in all, a great addition to the Retina.

can someone send me the link to the test and files?
I have the tar file and have it loaded but no actual image to work with.
also instructions as to how your testing.
or is it really just based on pressing play after a serial node is added?

is there an update to this test file?
I cant seem to find step by step instructions.
I downloaded the tar file but no instructions as to which image to use for testing.
better yet, I have a few sequential DNG files from a Black Magic Cinema, its 2.5K res and would like to use that as a test option.

    dont uptar it.
read it as the tar file.
I did the same and it works.
however, where are the linked files?
is there a recent version with an actual file?

Black Magic Intensity Thunderbolt options come to mind.
Any decent Thunderbolt display (there isnt much options).
What ever you can afford for Video display.
Sonnet and Magma make TB external PCI cages for higher end options.
I love G-Tech gear but havent heard any TB options to date.

Thanks Marco I was not aware that the smaller drives were slower.
Peter Ill probably be in the same boat as you for the first few months since both dont have TB MBP 🙂
I have a plenty of RAIDs to connect too.
My Mac Pro workhorse has an ATTO SAS with a GTECH eS Pro RAID attached.
I can adapt to whatever as soon as I get my hands on mine 😉

Thanks Marco, Ill consider the SanDisk option.
Now what are folks stocking up with as far as the smaller drives?
I was first gung ho for the big drives but I think a couple of small ones would be a safe bet in most cases.

Heck if your Mac Pro is accessible, it takes a min to shut it down, remove a sled and add and reboot.
Sure there is some danger involved but I do it so many times day to day at work (for other reasons) that its the norm.
Cant wait for my BMD version of the REDMAG 1.8 😉

I have the same problem with my set-up.
    Its a Mac Pro 2.93 w/ATI 5770 GUI.
    CUBIX/Quadro4000(2)/ROCKET/Decklink Extreme 3D.
Flanders LM 2461w SDI from Decklink.
Is my lag attributed by the ATI display card or a setting in Decklink?
