what drives are you using?
I dont believe the BMD 4K cards acts like a propitiatory display card e.g. RED ROCKET card.
I could be wrong but we have the DeckLink Extreme HD and would stutter if we used a slow drive using HD files. -
Why not work in proxy mode for critical motion tests.

You are right about not dipping your toes with this one.
For me I had to learn it so I can develop a course (evening class) for a part-time gig.
That was days after first release date.
Its just like any other software (or job) where you have no choice but to learn it no matter what your old habits are.Legacy got me where I am.
The ability to learn new things and not to find fault.Man I had to move from Alias Power Animator to Maya in a week.
Try that challenge 😛 -

Folks at REDUSER are looking at the 8-Cores.
It sounds to be the best set-up for utilizing current RAM and certain processes.
Some have stated that the 12-Core is overkill but I dont mind making that mistake 🙂 -
We went with the same route as you Chris.
Just loaded three with 12-cores. D700 and 64GB/1TB.
Might as well see how that works. -
It feels like Christmas morning going through the configurator 🙂
And the only fruitcake is having to lower 3 x 8-cores down to 6-core to make space for 3 x 12-cores 😉
