You see this everywhere on MacUser where Apple is to blame once a new product is coming.
I am hoping that a new Mac Pro that can power three 4K displays can at least do a single 5K.
Ive worked with 4K to 6K R3Ds on the new Mac Pro and the display has been the only thing lacking for me.

    Update:

All is well and I dont have a clue how it fixed itself.
So far after the first 20 clips the rest (Im now at 160 clips in) worked 100% each attempt.

    Weird 😛

Okay revisiting my post after a full feature shoot with my Scarlet.

First off, the whole movie was shot without jam sync (out of my control here) and used a scratch mic on the Scarlet and a Sound Devices 744T.
Ive convinced the post people that I have FCPX under control using Audio Sync so I took the challenge of prepping the files.
I have 13 days of shooting and got through day 1 to 7 as well as 11 with maybe a 98% success rate on sync.
Now I dont mind the 2% as far as manually syncing but for some odd reason day 8 has been a total mess in regards to sync.
I got 12 clips and gave up to write this.
I rebooted the system a few times and even went back to older projects and they seem to sync up fine.
But this set of files on day 8 has me stumped.
Checked the audio on both scratch and SD and found nothing odd in regards to file format and audio levels.
    Anyone experience this?

All I can add is that Resolve 11 is the best conduit from FCPX (due to Audio Sync R3Ds) to Avid MC AAF 😉
Now as far as NLE, I dont think it can cut it…pardon the pun 😉

Yikes not what I wanted to hear.

I have over 800 clips to export 🙁

  • Late to the party but I had to jump in and ask a few questions.

First off, there is no Audio Sync by Waveform similar to FCPX and PluralEyes in Avid right?
Yes Ive been using Avid for a long time but as far as plug-ins, I dont stray from the basics e.g. Sapphire and Boris.
Ive asked this question at the Avid forum but figured Id jump in here and ask away.
My workflow is almost the same. Full feature using my Scarlet and a SD 744T but no jam/timecode sync.
There is scratch audio good enough for me to sync using FCPX Audio Sync option. Its pretty bang on but my goal is to get all this in Avid and maintain the meta data flow to round trip back to Resolve.
It seems FCPX 10.1.3 and Resolve 11 are the only combinations that will let you read the FCPX XML Audio Synced files.
Problem is that after exporting to Avid AAF, its a freakin crap shoot whether most, some or any of the files transfer over.
Ive had mixed results every time 🙁

[Mark Dobson] “What really bugs me is the inconsistency in the development of this software from version to version “

Im not sure what you mean? There has been one major change of late.
Before that Events/Projects were barely touched.

  • When you say lost, do you mean that even the footage resources are gone from your hard-drive?
I can see FCPX losing connection to a project but not sure about it deleting an entire project from a physical drive.
Can you snoop around for the project/events folders on your drive?

I’ve ran into this a few times and even after finding the originals, the re-linking is stubborn.
I’ve had better luck just re-importing the files and honestly a few times it just linked on its own.
