Funny, real, and depressing all at the same time.

Doesn’t this usually happen on the “flat rate” jobs?

Only thing more perfect would be to hear the producer say- “THATs it – it’s PERFECT – we’re GOLD!” Then as he’s turning out the lights, we hear him talking to his wife on the phone saying – “Yeah, I finally solved it by putting back the original SFX I started with, just 2db louder.”

    ; )

I have done that! Actually just slyly turned up the monitors in the room and suddenly the mix was no longer too soft, but “Perfect”.

That’s fun. Been there–never, of course, to that extent. I doubt anyone will ever make the flip side, however, which is trying to get changes made through a vain, surly editor. Having spent a lot of time on both sides over the years, I can tell you that there are definitely two sided to the coin.
