Off topic, I met Michael at SuperMeeet 2011 where FCPX was unveiled.
Its nice to see that he still (to this day) believes in FCPX and its capabilities.

The old ROCKETs are going as low as 800 USD at REDUSER.

    Glad I bought a BT one at 3K 😛

On the Mac side, its still viable in Resolve 11.

Working without it on a non ROCKET system is clunky at export.

Take advantage of drive space and Resolve via FCPX XML.
I just spent two weeks with 9TB of R3Ds via FCPX to Resolve to Avid MC back to Resolve.
    So much fun 😉

Solved this issue by removing all software (no reformat) then re-install.

I also figured out a working Thunderbolt pattern so that I can run the following on a D700 Mac Pro 8-Corez:

    Sonnet Echo Express III Rack
    – RED ROCKET
    Sonnet Echo Express III Rack
    – Digidesign HDX PCI
    Black Magic Design UltraStudio 4K
    GRAID Studio 8TB
    Apple Cinema 30″ (2) displays

Digidesign Pro Tools running with HD I/O and Sync HD
Avid Media Composer using BMD UltraStudio 4K

Oliver Ive been using the Auto Sync in FCPX with same resource clips as you state in your earlier posts.

Ive had great success using the Export XML option into Resolve 11.
However some issues occurred from Resolve to Avid MC using AAF Export.
Ive since figured out all the issues and Ive mentioned it in numerous posts across forums.

Now to my actual question, how are you connecting the FCPX Roundtrip files back to the original R3Ds within FCPX?
I do recall something about changing file types but I cant understand how that would work coming from Resolve to FCPX.

How are you exporting out of Avid?

Did you make sure that all tracks are on?

Try a Video Mixdown, and place it back on the timeline to see if that works.

Test with little edits of course.

Also, try using the same project you ingested into Resolve as the AAF import project.

Hoping that should link all files.

Unless you imported different files within Avid but they too should move over.

    Thanks Michael that did it!
With the AMA link tip I can even delete the extra audio clips but find that to be the hardest to do manually.
The only thing I am finding is that at first the Relink loses it during a session.
When I close the app and open it comes back up easily by just relinking a single file.
Then after closing the app and back in, I noticed some files are missing again.
But a quick relink on a missing one brings back all the files in bins.
I have them all in 15 different bins each for day of shoot.
Hope its just a simple memory bug.
Ill keep testing and see what happens.

    Again thanks!

thanks again Michael for the tips.

After looking into it, this might break the round trip back to Resolve for me.

The second tip only work with AMA files.

Avid is not seeing the files as AMA links since they were processed from Resolve 11 to MXF DNxHD36.

I still ended up exporting the lot to 2 channels.

But Ill try the tip anyway 🙂
