    Thanks, Jeremy for this tip.

I know it’s been two years but I ran into an issue with FCPX 10.6.7 and R17 today.

Your tip helped with the use of XtoCC 🙂

Now Im hoping there is a fix to this for others that don’t have the XtoCC.

  • Found a new bug exporting any FCP XML to Resolve 17.

Yes, I haven’t updated for other reasons.

Did anyone manage to import the newly fcpxmld xml into Resolve 17?

And if R18 works, I might just pull the trigger.

  • Running on it on a few newer setups but most of the time on a 2013 Mac Pro and the only issue I have is it intermittently hangs. If you don’t want to wait, I just kill it and start over but if you wait it moves forward. Basic edits and adding captions have been the culprit of late.

I honestly don’t see the same issues on a 2019 Mac Pro or M1 MBP 16″.

Not sure if that tech exists but in post, we usually do it with masking and layers.

If it’s a vector you can animate the shape to your liking.

You could also draw the shape of the road from a plan view and mask it in a 3D camera with movement.

    So many ways.

  • As long as it works, I’m happy with it.

It hasn’t made me un-install other options, and actually works well with others 🙂

I’ve seen variations using multiple sources via projects/cubes/tiles/lcd etc..

The easy one is a controller that can edit the source in quadrants.

The harder one was making sure the multiple sources was in sync.

My fave was the Christie Cubes back in the day.

One time I had a 2009 Mac Pro cheese grater outputting at some rid pixel size.

Thanks to After Effects this was doable.

We stopped MC support years ago due to FCPX/PPro/Resolve.

We still have a full deck of Pro Tools cards and hoping it doesn’t follow MCs fate.

What we are having problems with here in my local is actual serious Pro Tools users.

I am the last in my shop and getting up there in years.

June 24, 2023 at 9:05 pm in reply to: 5K project. How to speed AE

Just pick an aspect ratio that fits the original.

The beauty of AE is that there are no limitations other than the size rule of 30K by 30K.

Now the other rule is the squeeze ratio. Keep that 1:1 at all times.

So it’s normal to take a larger frame and scale down in your workflow.

There are however some plug-ins and processes that will task your system due to the constant scaling. In some cases, there are plug-ins that do not support anything over HD.

Not sure if thats the case of late.

I’ve had to deal with this nightmare workflow.

At times, color grading the shadows to even with the rest of the green works.

However, you would need to key it out and then use the final mask on the original, or whatever you fancy.

At times I would have a key on all layers using AE.
