Hi, I am wondering how to split one image into 3 channel videos like the installation from the following link.

    https://artcentron.com/2017/07/10/giant/

Of course, I can crop each image one by one but it needs a lot of labor. Is there any tool for this, or tips in Davinci Resolve(fusion, etc.)? Or, should I shoot with multiple cameras at first?

    Any opinions are welcome! Thanks!

Hi! unfortunately it does require some editing, you could do it in fusion perfectly, using masks and rotoscoping if necessary, that will depend on the type of video in which you are going to project the three videos at once, if the camera does not move and is on a tripod will make it much easier, also if no person passes in front of where you are going to project the videos, it is a simple integration, another solution would be to have a custom template for davinci, but it will depend on your needs because if the background image is going to change or it would also be a video this would not work and you would have to retouch everything every time you want to use it, let me know if you have any questions about it! I will be happy to help you.

I believe back in those days there were “display controllers” that handled those

    display walls.

and I really wonder if the source was recorded in that wide screen ratio.

You mean that “display controllers” are video mapping(videowalls) programs like Millumin, Resolume, etc.? I am quite a newbie about that, but I’d like to know the workflow.

I’ve seen variations using multiple sources via projects/cubes/tiles/lcd etc..

The easy one is a controller that can edit the source in quadrants.

The harder one was making sure the multiple sources was in sync.

My fave was the Christie Cubes back in the day.

One time I had a 2009 Mac Pro cheese grater outputting at some rid pixel size.

Thanks to After Effects this was doable.
