A Very Interesting And Honest (and accurate) Assessment of FCPX’s Future

I have to agree, Apple fed us some malarky about listening to us, reaching out to the film and network broadcast industry, and failed to follow through. FCPX won’t die, but it won’t evolve, it’s there to show off how many streams of 8K video a new high end Mac can do, nothing more.

June 30, 2023 at 2:25 pmThe one thing FCPX seems to beat all other software at out there is render times and stability. It seems to take advantage of the new apple chips to do this. What would you recommend as software to use instead of FCPX?

June 30, 2023 at 11:57 pmAs long as it works, I’m happy with it.
It hasn’t made me un-install other options, and actually works well with others 🙂

July 1, 2023 at 12:14 pmThis is not about one person’s individual experience, this is about an industry’s experience.
And, there are LOTS of users with lots of instability with FCP, and it’s full of bugs. I’m actually in process of learning to Resolve better. But Apple has stagnated it, and focused it on the YouTubers, and tossed off high end editors. I guess we just wish they’d openly admit it, rather than make promises to listen to high end editors in network broadcast and feature film. Let’s not mention it’s lack of real audio tools, etc.

July 3, 2023 at 6:35 pmMy experience since FCP 3.0 is that this is a very stable platform. As a matter of fact, I see more info about Apps like Premiere Pro crashing.

July 8, 2023 at 2:43 amWhere’s that statistic posted? I and using FCPX and documenting lots of bugs in 10.6.6. I see lots of issues on the various FCPX forums.

July 8, 2023 at 10:41 amIn your experience, what are several of the worst bugs you’ve seen? I’m not aware of any significant problems but my work may be too simple to encounter some issues. For me, generally FCP has been stable and a bit amazing that when it did crash (mostly 4+ years ago), I lost nothing I had just done.

July 19, 2023 at 4:00 pm1 individual experience is not reflective of the industry as a whole. FCPX has had many bugs, many folks report crashes, just search the various forums. I’ve had many crashes, many bug issues, broken plugins, etc. I do some fairly complex work for broadcast TV and film.
