    Hi Steve,
Thanks for the response. The footage is old 4×3 shot on a DVX100A. The purpose of changing the frame size is to get a wider frame without letterboxing or stretching it…web only purposes.

I like the way the frame looks, but FCP will not keep it at the pixel aspect I want. I’m wondering why this is happening.

    Most appreciated,
    Eric

Yes, I found the cartoon effect and it seems to do the same thing. Thanks. I ended up being able to do a key and apply a stroke which gave a much more controlled line.

Mostly to be able to scale it to any size. But also as a logo it needs to work in black and white, without gradients.

I had the idea of scaling each letter bigger using blend, then cutting through the different layers with a 100 point star. Might work…

    Thanks John,

I’m looking more to simulate the feathering with a stenciled design somehow. I tried doing some 100 and 200 point stars, with knocked out strokes around the letters… that came close, but I couldn’t control it properly around each letter. It didn’t have the same effect.

I’m wondering if there’s an easy way to create lots of little star bursts off of each letter, that has a similar effect as the full color pixel graphic, but in a simplified black and white design.

    Thanks again,
    Eric

Capturing as uncontrolled device and ignoring timecode…HOW?

Yes, that sounds like what I want to do. The tapes are composed of three 20min. originals copied onto 65min tapes (the ones I have). The originals had several timecode breaks re-setting at 0:00:00 after each break, and the TC on the copied 65min tapes re-set after each tape…it’s a complete mess concerning TC. I would like to ignore the TC and create new TC for editing the footage. Is there a tutorial on the steps for this?

    Thanks so much,
    Eric

    Thanks Dustin,

I did that and got it to work that way, but the camera is moving around a lot and the perspective isn’t exactly working for putting the Anchor point on the hinge. The door is also moving inconsistently so it’s really hard to get the sign to not have that floating around look.

I didn’t know this mattered. Is there a difference between office max -R and Memmorex -R? What’s the best?

    Thanks,
