Capture & Set New TC
Posted by Eric Klassen on November 11, 2008 at 4:59 amI have about 10 tapes to capture that have lots of time code breaks. I would like to bypass the TC on those tapes and burn a new TC into a single capture. Is there a way to do that? I’m assuming Capture Now does it, but is there a way to burn new TC during the Capture?
Thanks,

November 11, 2008 at 5:14 amYou can use the AUX TC track to edit with if you desire.
However, I don’t understand what went wrong with the original capture.
TC Breaks can be dealt with by capturing over them. Did you try that?Kevin Monahan

November 11, 2008 at 3:44 pmCapturing as uncontrolled device and ignoring timecode…HOW?
Yes, that sounds like what I want to do. The tapes are composed of three 20min. originals copied onto 65min tapes (the ones I have). The originals had several timecode breaks re-setting at 0:00:00 after each break, and the TC on the copied 65min tapes re-set after each tape…it’s a complete mess concerning TC. I would like to ignore the TC and create new TC for editing the footage. Is there a tutorial on the steps for this?
Thanks so much,
EricEric

November 11, 2008 at 11:41 pmI was cautioning against the use of uncontrolled device as it means you are editing without reference to the code on tape and therefore it is a total mess if you have to go back and recapture off tape.
As for how to do it, that is really basic stuff you will find with a forum search or better still reading the manual. Sorry if it seems like I am reluctant to help you do something that may be a huge mistake months down the track.
