    Ron,

This site is amazing. The amount of calories I’ve saved from Cow supported stress relief might be in the seven digits, so I’d say I’ve got plenty to burn 😉

Everyone here deserves to be praised daily.

    If it helps this discussion:
I spent a couple of hours looking for the tutorial. I searched all my personal libraries in iTunes (I have them all), then came into the Cow and searched all the AE podcasts I could find thinking I might have missed it somewhere. I then went to the individual’s web sites I found in some of the podcasts I scanned. I tried searching for it in the Cow, but no luck. Then I resorted to asking the forum.

    Total calories burned…about 500.

    Darby,

The Straight Matted setting was set in the Color drop down under Video. I was taught that this is a better setting to use if a key has been done. Not sure if it should have been called Straight Alpha.

    That explains the large files

I was using Quicktime to view the rendered files.

-How do you copy/paste a portion of a post so it appears in italics and author in Bold?

Thanks again for all your help,

David, Thanks. After trouble shooting this some more, I tried re-formatting the drive and I noticed that I had accidentally formatted it for pc/windows the first time around. Re-formatting it for OSX solved the problem.

    Thanks,

    Thanks Walter,

How about the chapter markers? I’m assuming I would lose those by going into Encore.

I would like to think I could work in both program packages, but my fear is that it will interrupt work flow by doing so. If it’s possible to use FCP and import into Encore, that’s great. But I have a sneaky suspicion that the work flow will be best by working in one. And as the apps evolve, I can only imagine those work flows becoming more and more dependent upon the accompanying apps provided in the package.

I love adobe. The question is really about will I be making a mistake if I switch my editing/sound needs over to the Premier family, or does it not really matter. Having the flash web site functionality is something I’ve been looking for for a long time. I’m really excited to play around with it.

    Thanks,
    Eric

To answer your questions as best as I can:
    Will be editing with DV.
I’ve done some limited searching on the site, but mostly came up with too much info to effectively navigate through.
I haven’t heard of any of those outlets before, I was thinking of going with egghead or buy.com. I’ll check out those other sites.

As always, thanks for your ideas. All of you are amazing.

I searched around but didn’t find anything I was looking for. I figured out how to do this by using Live Trace in Illustrator CS2. Got the tracing effect I was looking for, then extruded it into the 3D effect I for the final. Perfect.

Now an additional question. Is it possible to animate the 3D I’ve created in Illustrator in AE, or will AE turn it into 2D?

    Thanks,
    Eric

    Dave,

It’s a vector logo from Illustrator. I brought it into AE directly as an .ai file. I set the continuously rasterize button to on, and rendered with the best settings. The quicktime file I get looks good, but when I export it out from fcp for the web using QT7 800kbps, I get that jagged look. This doesn’t seem right to me, but I thought it might be a web compression thing. The other QT7 web movies I see out there are super clean so I think there’s something else going on. I’m wondering if there’s a step somewhere I’m missing.

    Any idea for a fix?

    Thanks,
    Eric
