Brilliant. So simple and easy, I’m sure it will work and will be putting it to the test as soon as I can get back to editing. Thanks guys.

Okay, so I see how force 1 can control the point of explosion. By moving the strength up and down, I’m getting the pieces to blow out or in depending on which direction I’m going. I’ve tried setting key frames, but I cannot get this effect to animate. How do I get Force 1’s parameters to go from zero to another blown out strength setting in an animation. I’m not getting any response from keyframing new strengths, and I’ve exhausted my trials on the other parameters. I think I might be missing something really basic here.
Thanks,

I have exported only sound, yes, the pops are still there. A mixdown…I’m not positive what that is, can you explain? It always pops in the same spot. Funny, the clips that are giving me the most pops are ramped, and those that cut in and out with no ramp are usually not popping, but at times they are. There doesn’t seem to be any consistency with this.

bogiesan,
Thanks for your thoughts, and thanks for jumping up and down for my best interests ; )
I’ve been told by Avid users that a kind of template for slate information exists in that program, so I’m thinking maybe there’s a plug-in for FCP, or perhaps there’s a process here that I’m just not aware of. Here’s my situation, and if you have a better way of doing this, please direct me to the nearest exit as you have already begun to do. I am setting markers to get to each take on a reel. On each marker, I describe the take. Doing an hour tape, there’s quite a lot of these. Now, to get that information into a log sheet (from a batch list export), those markers need to be on the clip rather than the sequence, so that’s where I start. Then, in order to create a dvd with chapter markers, I need to re-create those markers on the sequence so they will import correctly into DVDSP. Now, if that isn’t already too tedious and inefficient, I have to go back and create a text layer to describe each take so the person watching the DVD has a note to refer to if they are not referring back to the DVD menu for which take is being viewed (I’ve tried doing a subtitle import for this from the batch list but I can’t get it to work). So perhaps this last step has a solution, but it seems so not right to have to type all this information over and over.
I am in charge of developing a system for our company that instructs employees in how to develop screeners in an efficient and timely manner. So far, I haven’t come close.
Thanks for your time, thoughts and guidance.

Thanks for the suggestions…
I tried moving the clip from the viewer to the timeline and there was no change. Still getting the clip marker info alone in the viewer and only the video and audio info in the Canvas. Any other suggestions on getting the clip marker info to go onto the Canvas?About markers, yea, this has been a really long and tedious process. Any other suggestions for how to most efficiently create a dvd screener with all the scene/take/timecode slate information and a paper log broken down to reference each take? I’m working with green screen footage where we have about 150 takes with very slight changes, but important to note, and it’s basically impossible to keep track of it all unless this marker/text overlay/paper log is done. I can’t think of another way to do it.

Okay, so I’m by no definition a seasoned FCP user, I love the program. If I can’t get something to work, it’s usually because I don’t know how to do it yet. But I’m totally dumbfounded at a very basic missing component that I can say I’m almost 100% is not there. Why is there not an overlaying template for screening information and a simple printable log? I’m talking about something that takes timecode, marker information (from the track layers and from the top of the timeline), notes, and other slate information that might be important for providing screening details to others outside of the editing bay. It seems rediculous that to put out an acceptable screener, you have to burn the timecode in, mark & describe the scenes and takes, re-type that info to create a text layer so the marker descriptions can be taken to dvd, then turn the marked clips into subclips so you can export a batch list which has to then be brought into Excel and formated to create a paper log of the screener…did I miss anything? I’ve heard Avid does this all for you, but I can’t say for sure becuase I don’t know it. FCP people, if you’re listening, please look into this.

I have my markers on the top of the timeline rather than in the specific clip. Is there a way to extract the clip information from there? Or to get those markers to get into the clip, so to then make subclips. By left clicking on the top of the timeline, I can get a list of the markers to appear, it seems that info must be accessable from somewhere that is able to be copied, and it also seems that the timecode information must also be accessable which is what I will need.
Thanks,
