I’m using shatter for the first time and there’s not much direction in the manual I have. I read in the archives that I can control the moment of explosion with force 1. I’m doing a very basic explosion but I can’t seem to get these parameters to cooperate. Do I set all the settings at the beginning of the explosion or must I key frame in different settings? How does force 1 control the moment of explosion? A little help here would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance,
    eric

Okay, so I see how force 1 can control the point of explosion. By moving the strength up and down, I’m getting the pieces to blow out or in depending on which direction I’m going. I’ve tried setting key frames, but I cannot get this effect to animate. How do I get Force 1’s parameters to go from zero to another blown out strength setting in an animation. I’m not getting any response from keyframing new strengths, and I’ve exhausted my trials on the other parameters. I think I might be missing something really basic here.

    Thanks,
    eric

If you’re looking for explanations about different AE effects, always search the Cow, or click on the Tutorial link at the top left of the page. It’s helped me countless times. A quick search under the Tutorial link, then clicking on Host Application, then clicking on Adobe After Effects will give you the following link:

Hopefully this can shed some light. I’ve tried the Shatter effect a few times and been very frustrated by it, and I still have no good idea how it works. Luckily, though, when I needed it the Cow led safely me back to the barn. 🙂 Hope this helps.

    Michael.
