Hello all,
For those checking out this Shapeshifter, here is a review I heard about and read.

Pretty good stuff. I bought it and have been playing with it all day!

Hello,
This is a bit old here. Does anyone know of a technique to create a heat wave look like out on a hot desert road?
Appreciate it.
Thanks,

I upgraded to CS5.5 and can speak at least to plugins. Most worked without issue and I had a couple that required some work arounds, like manually copying to the CS5.5 plugin folder.
I know for sure, the Delirium plugin requires you to manually move the plugin. That process is here:

It wasn’t too much of a burden at all and I have a ton of plugins.
Not sure on scripts though.

I’ve asked similar questions before but bottom line is if you go to a satellite company specializing in this, they will charge you and arm and a leg.
One option that I looked at is to use google earth. If you poke through the settings once you find your location, you can remove the little icons, street names, and all that junk leaving you with a pretty clean image.
From there, a screen shot or something.
Hope that helps.

Appreciate the feedback and I stand “clarified”. 🙂
Sorry, did not intend to imply that Element only takes advantage. Yes, it does require it. It is however (according to the demo) well suited for even an average card but nice to know that IF we have a high end card, anything to make use of that capability is nice.
And since I just installed a new Rad HD 6970 2GB, I’m happy about it.

I don’t see in your post what you are trying to do with the particle generator but TC Particular is highly respected as one of the best.
And I have to tell you, Andrew Kramer from videocopilot.net just put up a demo on his site for his Element particle type generator. It’s developmental but sounds very close to release. It is at https://www.videocopilot.net and just click BLOG and you will see info. Looks like blood droplets or something in the screenshot. lol
It is definitely going to be a force to be reckoned with. Oh, and for those that care, it takes full advantage of your graphics card.

I think another option, slightly cheaper is the Camera Tracker by Foundry which I believe is about $249. It is integrated right in to AE as well and really is fantastic.
Search in here for Camera tracker. I know there is a video from someone who did a little test. It really works well and I bought it myself as a result. It will do exactly what you are trying to do.
