Theo, have you tried setting the playback rate to -1? You can’t. Playback rate valid numbers range from .25 to 4.
To reverse a video clip, right-click the clip and choose REVERSE.

Right-click the clip on the timeline. Choose REVERSE. That clip will now play backwards.

One script that DOES access the internet is the Thought Equity script. However, it should ONLY do so when activated and definitely not on Vegas startup.

I can tell you for a fact that Excalibur will NOT try to access the internet. There is zero code inside Excalibur that tries to access anything external to Vegas.

Instead of that, just add a velocity envelope to the event and then drop the velocity to 0% (i.e. freeze frame) at the point you want the frame to freeze. You can also gradually slow the video down using this method instead of a sudden “stop”.
For the text, you’ll need a bunch of keyframes (one for each letter)

That’s why I wrote the “Select Events” tool that’s in Excalibur. It can do it at the touch of a button. In short, scripts are your answer. If you’re using a “Movie Studio” version of Vegas, scripts can’t be used.

Sounds like you’ve moved the dialog box off the screen. It’s usually hidden underneath the “start” bar when this happens. Set the start bar to minimize, find that window, and drag it back to the middle of the screen. If that doesn’t work, you can try changing screen resolutions.
