Yes, you can export as AAF. Just go to File – Save As – and pick the appropriate type.

The Decklink hardware from Black Magic now works with Vegas. Vegas can now do direct I/O via these cards.

6.0a was the initial web release. 6.0 was never available for download (but the initial run of CDs will contain 6.0). Go to help – about and you should see Vegas 6.0a (build 99).

Nancy, I will agree that 6.0 is very buggy. Version 6.0a, however, has been running fine on my system so it can’t be said that it’s “not stable” on all systems. Yes, some people are having problems. However, many others are not. Do I think it’s bug-free – absolutely NOT. Do I think it can get some work done – YES. Do I think 6.0b will be better – YES.

#1 In Vegas 6 you can drag the playhead. In Vegas 5 and 6 you can drag the cursor.
#2 Use PAUSE instead of STOP. I changed my spacebar to be Play/Pause because I want it to “stop where the cursor currently is”.

You could create your own key assignment to the “Trimmer.CreateSubClip” command and then program that key into the shuttlepro.

What version of Vegas? There is no simple process from Vegas 3, 4, or 5 to FCP. With Vegas 6 you might look at the AAF export.

I would not be afraid to upgrade to Vegas 6. I has a ton of features over Vegas 4. Remember that you can have both Vegas 4 AND Vegas 6 installed. Also remember to upgrade DVD Architect. Version 3 of DVDA has so many features over DVDA 1 that you won’t believe it’s the same program.
