edl question
Hi, I’m a Final Cut Pro editor and I’m trying to help a friend move a project that was started in Vegas to Final Cut Pro. I don’t know much about Vegas, but my quick research tells me that it can export an edl and I was hoping to use this to get the project tranferred without having to start over.
The Vegas editor is telling us that he can’t just export an edl, that he would have had to have started with that in mind. Is this true? It’s not like that in FCP, but I’m new to this whole edl thing… can someone explain the workflow to me? Or point me to another resource?

What version of Vegas? There is no simple process from Vegas 3, 4, or 5 to FCP. With Vegas 6 you might look at the AAF export.

Thanks for your reply, I am trying to find out which version they are using. I have the Vegas 6 manual, but it only mentions importing AAF, nothing about exporting. This is an option?

Yes, you can export as AAF. Just go to File – Save As – and pick the appropriate type.

Can I load and edit Vegas 5.0 on my MAC G-5 ?

Vegas is not designed to run on a MAC.
