Yes, I have that option turned off in the preferences in both Vegas and DVDA.

My main laptop is a Sager that’s a P4, 3.4 GHz, 1 Gig RAM, 800MHz FSB, with TWO 60 Gig 7200RPM drives. I purchased it from powernotebooks.com. My smaller laptop is from PCNirvana and is a P4, 2.8 GHZ, 1 Gig RAM, with a slower 60 Gig hard drive. I have a 120 Gig firewire drive attached to it for storage.

Both run Vegas 6 well but the Sager is noticably faster.

Yes, I gave up on my P3 when moving to Vegas 5. It just really couldn’t hack it anymore. Now it simply prints DVDs and case covers/boxes and, maybe, burns DVDs. Vegas 6 is only on my laptops.

It is quite possible that the DVD player will PLAY the disc but it is most probable that the TV will NOT display it. You really need to send an NTSC DVD to the states.

I would recommend the upgrade. The differences between DVDA 1 and DVDA 3 are HUGE. If you’re going to look at making DVDs anytime soon, you’ll want DVDA3.

Vegas 6 also adds a LOT of new features that I feel are worth the difference. I do understand some people have had a few problems. As for capturing and PTT problems, it’s always possible to use the old version for capturing and printing purposes. Just remember that Vegas 4 will not open a project that was saved in Vegas 6. The project could be rendered to DV-AVI and printed using Vegas 4, though.

After you open Pan/Crop, right-click the image and choose “Match Output Aspect”. You should be able to resize and move on/off the screen as desired at that point.

I always to a “Match Aspect” (usually via a script) which will also allow it to move in any direction fully off the screen.

I have not noticed either of those happening. I have also turned OFF the “automatically open project” option so it never opens a project upon start unless I have managed to crash Vegas (or, more likely, the power went off).

Yes, it can work with Pan/Crop. You may need to changes some of the default settings to get it to work exactly the way you want.

Generally speaking, you use Pan/Crop to crop an image or pan across an image. You use Track Motion to adjust the postion of the image on the screen. However, Pan/Crop CAN do both.

You can always use Track Motion.
