What if you use Excel to create the graph and then save it as an image to be imported into Vegas?

It’s definitely NOT the size of the file. XP can handle files MUCH larger than 4Gig. You say they’re MPG files – what brand of MPG? MPEG 1? MPEG 2? MPEG 4?
Why don’t you just capture as standard DV-AVI?

Just run the “Reset Pan/Crop” function on the Repair/Maintenance tab. You may want to run the “Match Aspect” function afterwards.

DVD raw footage???? You’re not capturing via firewire into DV-AVI?

Vegas does not import AC3 files. The following page clearly shows that AC3 is export only.

There is a knowledge base article on the Sony site explaining the restrictions to SWF import.

Put the cursor on the frame you wish to capture. Hit the “Save Snapshot” button just above the preview screen. For a better result, you may want to change the preview mode to “Best (Full)”. For the best results, there’s a couple other settings that also need to be changed. Your best bet is to use a script that makes all these setting changes for you, saves the snapshot, and then resets them all back.

When he rendered the MPEG2 file in Vegas, it had to decompress and recompress EVERY frame. With DV-AVI it does not have to do that – It just copies any unchanged frames. With a compressed format such as MPEG2, even if the settings are exactly the same, it has to totally render everything.
Yes, he is losing some quality. Maybe not enough to notice in one render (depending on the initial quality) but he is definitely losing quality. For the best quality, record as DV-AVI and then edit and render as MPEG2 for the final output.

I VOB file is what is required for a DVD. You give any authoring program an MPEG2 file, author the DVD, and it will produce a series of VOB files.
