DVD-R is fine in most cases. That is what I use.

Nero does nothing with DAR files. What you do is create the DVD in DVD Architect and then choose the “Prepare” option. This will create a Video_TS and Audio_TS pair of folders inside the folder you specify. Now you use Nero to simply burn those prepared folders to the DVD.

Actually, you can do them all on ONE track. Just use keyframes on that track to change the various sizes/locations for the PIPs as needed.

Pan/Crop can also create PIPs but it works backward to Track Motion. Open the Pan/Crop window and may the “F” area LARGER which will make the image smaller. Then you can move the “F” area around to position it.

The three default audio FX ARE added on mine. Can you add them manually? If yes, add them manually, right-click the track header, and choose “Set default track properties”. If you can’t add them manually, uninstall/reinstall.

If the cursor is over part of that clip on the timeline, you SHOULD see the effect as it is being applied. If none of that clip is on the timeline, add the clip to the timeline so you can see it and then add the FX in the Media Pool. Any changes will be seen.

It simply means that your audio and video are no longer in sync. It will also tell you the amount it is off sync. You can right-click either event, choose “Synchronize”, and then pick either “By Moving” or “By Slipping”. By Moving will move the event back into sync. By Slipping will leave the event in the same place but will “slip” the section shown so that it is in sync.

MPEG2 is NOT a good editing format. You’ll have more problems using MPEG2 than using DV-AVI (for instance). Plus, your quality will be reduced because you will be recompressing a compressed file for your final output.

Having said that, you should be able to load MPEG2 on the timeline. If the audio is AC3, Vegas will not see it.

What I sometimes do is simply plug the DVD player into my convertor and then capture as DV-AVI. DV-AVI is much easier to work with.

I buy the Monster 5000 count card boxes from baseball card stores. They are about $5.00 – $6.00/each and can hold around 280 tapes!

They are stackable and a great way to store tapes.
