You can try what Rick mentioned earlier:

Drop the number of rendering threads down to 1 and lower the RAM preview size.

    Here’s a couple of possibilities:

    1. Use the Cookie Cutter which has several different shapes.

    2. Use the Bezier Mask in Pan/Crop which can make shapes however you desire.

    3. Create a mask in a paint progrma which you can then use to create an irregularly shaped PIP.

All of the above options are described in various issues of my newsletters. #2 requires the full version of Vegas (I don’t think it’s available in the “Movie Studio” versions).

If you have a registration code for the program, yes you can use it without needing the CD drive.

In Movie Studio, 400% is the max. At that point, you render out the segment, put that segment back on the timeline, and then do it another 400% (or as needed). If you need even faster, render again and apply it again to that rendered clip.

With the full version, you can also use the Velocity Envelope to get up to 300% and you can combine the two to get up to 1200%.

January 13, 2008 at 9:02 pm in reply to: DVD Capture Vs. Import Questions

Here’s a way to import from a DVD that seems to always work (unless the DVD is protected):

    1. Connect the DVD player to a convertor/camera via analog
    2. Connect the convertor/camera to the computer via firewire
    3. Open the standard SD capture program and turn OFF “Scene Detection”
    4. Press Play on the DVD player and capture on the computer.

This will give you a standard DV-AVI file you can edit.

    Track 1: new text
Track 2: Solid color generated media cropped and moved to cover the correct area (Pan/Crop and/or Track Motion for this)
    Track 3: Original video

    That should get you there.

Besides, questions like “When will DVD Architect burn Bluray with menus” is a question no one can answer. If someone does answer the question, they probably don’t really know. If someone DOES know the answer, they can’t tell it due to NDA restrictions.

Look at Vol 1 #7 and Vol 4 #1 of my newsletters. They explain the entire process.

    The basics:
Render from Vegas as MPEG2 picking one of the DVD Architect presets using the “Custom” button to change the bitrate.

Render from Vegas as AC3 for the audio

Use those two files in DVD Architect to create the final DVD.

Without looking, I believe the average bitrate (using VBR) would need to be about 4,825,000.

You can download a bitrate calculator. I have a chart in Vol 1 #7 of my newsletters.
