DVDs are MPEG2. MPEG2 can vary in size based on the bitrates used. So simply use the proper bitrate for the length of your video. There’s lots of info in Vol 1 #7 of my newsletters and there’s another issue about going from Vegas to DVD Architect to create a DVD.

Take a look at my newsletters. One of them talks about building a motion slide-show. Depending on the version of Vegas you’re using, there are also custom commands and scripts available that can build a slideshow for you. Then all you have to do is tweak it.

Capturing from MiniDV is real-time. To capture a 1 hour tape takes 1 hour.

CTRL-L will toggle ripple editing on and off. However, if you leave it turned OFF all the time, you can use “Post Ripple Editing”. Then you can use F, CTRL-F, and CTRL-SHIFT-F to do whatever type of rippling you want.

James, I can handle these on my site and/or via e-mail more easily. Some things you could help me with are:

1. The exact procedure you’re using
2. The VEG file after you run the SYNC tool which creates the PIP view and adds the “MasterTally2” track which is where the tallys are located. If you delete that track or the items on that track, you’ll kill the tallys.
