One thing you can do is open Vegas a second time, open the second project, copy the clip you want, switch back to the first project (DO NOT Close the second instance of Vegas), and paste the clip.

After placing the image, open Pan/Crop, right-click the image in the Pan/Crop dialog, and choose “Match Output Aspect”. You should then be able to zoom in/out, pan, and position as desired.

Plus, you can always use Track Motion to change the position. Just don’t use it for zooming!

Did you select all the events you wanted grouped first? BTW, “G” will also create a new group and “U” will UNgroup.

Do yourself a favor and get rid of the USB capture. Instead capture via firewire. If you don’t have a camera that can convert the analog to firewire, look a a convertor like the Canopus ADVC series or an ADS Pyro. There are others that are the same type of device as well.

Looks like that might actually be the BUS track. “B” toggles the audio bus track and “CTRL-SHIFT-B” toggles the video bus track. They’re also listed under the “View” menu.

You don’t really need a camera. Look at convertors like the Canopus ADVC series or the ADS Pyro devices.

The timeline area is resizable. Sounds like yours is resized to “nothing”. Move the mouse slowly toward the bottom of that dialog. As soon as it turns into an up/down arrow, click and drag upwards.

Try changing the audio format to AC3 instead.
