The “scrubbing tool” at the bottom is only for changing the preview speed. If you want to change the speed of a clip, you have to do that on the timeline – not just when playing it back. There are two ways to change speeds: The velocity envelope and the playback rate.

In your case, since you want the entire project sped up I do it this way:

Start a NEW project and then drag that project to the timeline (as a nested VEG file). Now hold down the CTRL key and resize the event smaller till you get it to the proper speed. Now it will render at that speed.

At the upper left of your highlighted region, there’s a series of dots going down. Click on those dots and drag away from that area. You’ve docked the window in the docking area by moving the window close to that area. To prevent it from docking, hold down the CTRL key when moving the window.

Put the mouse over the timeline and scroll the WHEEL. It doesn’t adjust the project “length”, it controls how much of the timeline you see at one time.

Yes, that is correct. Vegas Pro 8 has a capture app whose version is 6 (the build numbers have changed from vegas 6 to Vegas 7 to Vegas pro 8)

Vegas 8 automatically zooms out to full project length unless you manually change the project length. I don’t like this behavior either. You can prevent it if you manually adjust the length slightly smaller before adding the clip or you can adjust it back after the clip is loaded.

Open the capture app. From that app, go to Options – Preferences and then go to the “Capture” tab. It’s the first option listed there.

BTW, you CAN capture as a single clip. Just turn off “scene detection” in the capture app.

When in the Capture app, go to Options – Preferences. Now go to the “Capture” tab. The first option there will turn on/off scene detection.
