    On a tangent…

I did a test the other day with a clients editor. he used the XDCAM transfer utility to offload EX clips. What is the difference between the Transfer utility and Clip Browser. I told him he must use clip browser but he downloaded clips with out it.

Be aware that there are hard edged grads and soft edged grads.
The hard edge grads are usually better for telephoto lenses and the soft edge are better for W/A use. When in doubt, go with the soft edged grad

You could buy a set of soft edge N3, N6, N9; a hard edge set of N3, N6 & N9; a soft edge set of blue N3, blue N6 & blue N9 plus hard edge blue N3, blue N6, blue N9 plus, plus, plus, plus…

  • Or better yet, go to the sony XDCAM EX site and download the very latest version. My disc was an older version, the website has the latest.

There are new mini laptops out for about $300 with Express Card slots. I wonder if they can handle this simple file transfer?

I agree that extra care needs to be taken. I put a piece of tape on the backside of the cover tape and no sticky part of the tape touches the door. The sticky tape only touches the body around the door. It’s working well so far.

    Thanks

Camera assitants have been using camera tape on film cameras for 50 years. Virtually every film magazine gets taped up. Often the door to the camera gets taped.
As I stated at the top, I am concerned with damaging the flimsy door. I’ve added a piece of tape to the backside of my tape cover to keep the cover tape from sticking to the door and preventing damage to the door.
I would like a better solution but for now I think I’ll ‘stick’ to the tape. Occasionaly I’ll need to clean off the residue. No big deal if I stay ahead of it and don’t let it sit for years.

Are you saying putting tape on THIS camera is a problem or on any camera? Why?
