4×4 Graduating Filter
Posted by Peter Fuhrman on April 7, 2009 at 4:13 amI have a Sony EX3 and a Redrockmicro mattebox that takes 4×4 filters. I want to purchase a 4×4 graduating filter to cut back on highlights in the sky. Can you recommend a brand? I’ve looked at Tiffen. What do you guys out there use?

If you buy a .3 and a .6, you can put them together and have a .9
If you can only buy one, make it a .6

April 9, 2009 at 10:32 amBe aware that there are hard edged grads and soft edged grads.
The hard edge grads are usually better for telephoto lenses and the soft edge are better for W/A use. When in doubt, go with the soft edged gradYou could buy a set of soft edge N3, N6, N9; a hard edge set of N3, N6 & N9; a soft edge set of blue N3, blue N6 & blue N9 plus hard edge blue N3, blue N6, blue N9 plus, plus, plus, plus…
