Along with the RTFM advice, do a search here on the Cow. There are tons of posts (and answers).
Try Pleasantville (you’ll find a lot of answers with that I bet) or “desaturate color” for starters.

No, it comes in exactly as it’s recorded on the tape. The only reason you would want to bring it
in with a card is to use 10bit Uncompressed. And you would use 10bit if you planned on adding
a lot of graphics, which look better in 10bit. As for your newbie status, you might consider
starting over at creative calf, which may offer you more resources as a beginner.

Ed[DowntownBrown] “but in order to work on the timeline isn’t it compressed for performance and then uncompressed when you say go out to tape”

And if you’re thinking of even more possibilities, there’s also Main Concept, which receives high marks.
Compression Master is also a Swiss Army knife option.

Or Jason, you *could* look at it as *ascending*. After all, forums like this often have the worst grammar.
BTW, thanks for “lesser high”, that was a good one. 🙂
Ed[Jason Allen] “How I do love a forum that begins on debate over high (or lesser high) tech machinery and quickly descends into grammatical syntax.
Nothing like the cow for a laugh.”

I have seen threads where people say they are running FCP5 on their new minis (don’t know if it’s true,
but they’re saying it). As for whether it installs or not, here’s what Apple says on their site:
>>>>>If you have a Mac Mini (Early 2006), the Final Cut Studio (Universal) crossgrade Installer does
not prohibit you from installing the pro applications, but this configuration does not meet the minimum
system requirements for Final Cut Studio.<<<<<< Ed [Simmie] “[Ed] “Sure it will. But it won’t support Motion (officially anyway). The minimum specs for SD work in FCP5 call for 867hz G5 or DuoCore,
HD requires more, but still less than the MacBook puts out.”Are you guys sure about this? The Macbook has integrated graphics and I was under the impression studio will only install on a machine with an AGP Quartz Extreme or PCI Express graphics card. It’s the reason you can’t install FCP on an Intel mac mini.
My vote says no FCP on the Macbook…”

Actually Bret, Attorneys General is *exactly* how you say it. They are attorneys, not generals. General is the adjective, attorney
is the noun. You pluralize a noun, not the adjective.
Ed[Bret Williams] You pluaralizing things for no reason? MacBooks. MacBook Pros. Nobody would say MacBooks Pro. Or Attorneys General for that matter.”
“[Bob Roberts] “p.s. “MacBooks Pro”…kinda like “Attorneys General”…right?”

You *did* see the smiley face, didn’t you? 🙂 And besides, it got you to elaborate on why you’re asking again.
Ed[Michael Buday] “I’m aware that I already asked this question, – but someone on the Apple booth at NAB told me this was possible using a QT conversion export, but couldn’t elaborate – which is why I posed the question again. It’s not a matter of liking or disliking the previous answers.”

You asked the same exact question back in March in this forum and you got an answer from Tom Wolsky.

Didn’t you like the answer? 🙂
