You need to use a different font in the Titler. Rectangles usually appear when a font is not a unicode font.

Since your source clips are 29.97 I would strongly recommend that you edit in a 29.97 project. You can either do the final export using 25 fps or export to 29.97 fps and use and external method to convert to PAL.

Note that exporting a still image has changed from previous versions to CS4.
