I have 3 strands of hair left and i hope someone can help me save those last 3..

40 hours of HD 1080 documentary footage has been captured on to PC and then finally after 8 weeks we have managed to put together a rough cut.

I had to do a small promotional video which i did in premiere obviosuly under a new file name. That was completed.

When i went back to open the documentary file I realised it was missing the audio waveforms in the bottom audio tracks, when i went to play the final sequence, the visual was playing but there was no audio. Then on the bottom right corner i realised it was confirming all the files in the bins once again. It did this when i imported all the files at the begining and until now has never re-conformed.

The frustrating thing is , because there are alot of files in the bins, its taking forever, and im not sure why its doing this.

MInd you i beleive the footage was shot on 29.97 fps, when it should of been in 25 as we are in Australia ( PAL ). As the original project settings are set to 25fps it confirmed every file back down to 25 fps. I would realise after conforming there settings in the project window would change from 29.97 to 25fps.

But i need some assistance into why all the files have gone back to 29.97 and now its re-confirming them once again – and once again every time I re-open the project. All the clips are now in sequence for a rough cut, but every time i open the project im faced with my cutaways still getting re-conformed and not being able to view them in the source monitor 🙁 until they get conformed.

Im running PC windows XP , its premiere pro CS3 , the project files are from an external hard drive which is 1 terrabyte, but theres about 400 gig free space on it.. hope that helps thks

Since your source clips are 29.97 I would strongly recommend that you edit in a 29.97 project. You can either do the final export using 25 fps or export to 29.97 fps and use and external method to convert to PAL.

    THanks Eddie,

But what i have found bit confusing is, i opened up a 29.97 fps project and for some reason the files still conform and index everytime they are imported into the new project..

Could it be the way the footage was intially captured, because regardless of it being a 25 or 29.97 project it still indexes and conforms ??

By the way it was captured using firewire and the software used was ASPECT HD’s HDlink. This captured it in .m2t format. If this is not a good way to capture what do you recommend to capture with ? What are the best capture softwares for PC or is it just wise to use the in built capture software of premiere pro ??

Unfortunately I don’t do HD capturing, so I cannot advise you there, but if you can capture successfully from within PPro then that is the way to go.

    Cheers
