You don’t need to add another 285 card. Just adding a cheap GT120 card, or the ATI 5770 card would make a big difference.
The error message is new for version 8. In version 7, I think you just would have seen a beach ball hang in that scenario. Now we catch the error and warn you. I’m sort of surprised it would be worse in V8 than it was in V7. But things have changed, so maybe. You say Custom Luminance is causing the problem. Do any other controls work any better? If you make an RGB Gain change, or change the Sat level, will that also cause the message? Or just Custom Luminance?

Resolve does not currently support the Kona card.
The new Mac Resolve Config guide on the Blackmagic Design web site will give you information on supported hardware under version 8. The Cubix Desktop 4 is a tested solution.

Yes. It will work with DPX files, no matter how you created them.

Do you have a GUI card in addition to the 285, or do you have your GUI display connected to the 285 card?
I’ve never seen an error message like that. Can you give us the exact error message, and where you see it, i.e. at application launch before logging in, or after you’ve logged in and are doing something with a project?
What version of OSX are you running?

The Dirt and Dust removal tool only works with DPX files.

No, I can’t. I think it increases the buffers to the rendering process, but I don’t know the specifics. And as Rohit points out below, the issue has been addressed in V8.

This is a fix for 4K renders. Actually, any renders above 2K should use this.

Hi Robert,
Add the following line to the Debug tab in the DaVinci Resolve Preferences widget, then save, then exit Resolve and relaunch.
System.Record.Lookahead = 5

On the left of the Vectorscope widget are 2 vertical sliders. The left most slider controls the graticule level. Move that slider UP, and you should see something appear.

I’ll just comment that with the Cubix expansion chassis, and Q4000 card(s), OS X can not enumerate the Q4000 PCI data in the PCI Cards section of the Mac System Profiler. Perhaps the Cyclone expander has a similar issue. Perhaps all PCI expanders have this issue?
