  • Cyclon PCI epander with quadro 4000 problem

    I,

I’ve got a pci cyclon expander with 3 quadro 4000 and many problems
I wanted the users to know what I experienced :

When I use cyclon pci expander + quadro 4000 :

    – the pci config in apple menu cannot display PCI config (it’s says error something…)
    – dongle resolve has problem at startup (like if there was no dongle, have to try 10 times to load the soft, and after, no problem in it)
    – red rocket in cyclon doesn’t work in red cine
    although
    – red rocket works in resolve
    – resolve detect the 3 GPU of the 3 quadro 4000

when I replace the quadro 4000 by GTX 285 in the same expander unit, no more problem…

    Conclusion : quadro 4000 + Cyclon PCI expander sucks…

Config : Mac Pro 2010, 12×2,4Ghz, 32Go Ram, 3xFX4000,GT120, Decklink 3D+, RED Rocket, system on Crucial SSD 250, RAID FC 8gb Lacie 24To, CYCLONE PCI expander, Resolve 7.1

    Hi

We run one Q4000 + GTX285 + RedRocket in a Cyclon pci expander without any problems.

RedRocket works fine in RedCine and in Resolve.

Never tried installing more Q4000 for the moment…

I’m able to see the pci infos when I click on “about this mac” and then “more infos” then I have access to all the details about PCI cards…

    very interesting indeed.

I followed Davinci recommendation and put the Pci expander in slot 2 but I guess that should solve my problem !

I’ll try asap and let you know

    Thanks

Well, in fact, it didn’t change anything. When I put a quadro 4000 it doesn’t show the pci details anymore…

The last thing I could check is that I use a SSD drive for system but I doubt it creates such a problem…

[thibault carterot] “When I put a quadro 4000 it doesn’t show the pci details anymore…”

This may be a really dumb question, but you DO have Quadro FX4000 “For MAC”… right? A PC version won’t work.

Yes of course, they are mac version. And by the way, when I put them in the mac pro, it works perfect.

It works also with FX4800 in the expander. The only card that seems to have a problem with my expander is the 4000.
For the record, I tried 2 different expander and 2 different mac pro.

    I getting crazy…
