I must be missing something really basic in your question. Save As won’t work for you?

While you can use a single card (a 4000 for instance) for both the GUI and GPU, the performance will be much worse than using a separate card for each, which is why we don’t recommend doing that. In fact, we recommend you DON’T do that. But it’s your machine, you can do whatever you want. Just be aware of the consequences to performance.
Using 2 4000 cards, one for the GUI and one for the GPU, will not give you any better GPU performance than using a single 4000 GPU and any other card for the GUI. Using a second 4000 card for the GUI should make the GUI more responsive than say a GT-120, but it won’t improve the GPU performance.

If you have the Resolve and Resolve DeckLink driver on partition A, and you boot from partition A, then the system will want to install firmware on the card, that matches the DeckLink driver on partition A, if that firmware is not currently on the card. So lets say you do that. Now the card firmware matches the partition A DeckLink driver. Every time you boot from partition A, the DeckLink driver and firmware match, and everyone is happy.
Now lets say you have another app on partition B, and this app has a different DeckLink driver loaded. When you boot from this partition, the DeckLink driver will see the card firmware does not match (because it was updated to match the driver in partition A) and it will want to update the card firmware. So you update the card firmware, and now the partition B DeckLink driver is happy. But the next time you boot from partition A, the cycle starts all over again.
The only way to avoid this is to have the same DeckLink driver on partition A and B. If the apps on partition A and B don’t like that, then you have an issue.
In your case, your only solution would seem to be to load the driver that the non-Resolve partition wants, and HOPE that this does not cause a problem that is a show stopper for your Resolve app.
Or else resign yourself to updating the DeckLink firmware each time you change partitions.

On a normal system, you definitely should use the DeckLink driver that is installed with the Resolve software install. You should NOT install the standard stand alone DeckLink driver. Someday they will be the same, but that day is not today. While installing the stand alone driver likely won’t break Resolve SDI output, it might break things like time code support and VTR editing.

This has been mentioned before, but I’ll mention it again. The Resolve compatible version of the DeckLink driver is currently different from the main DeckLink driver release. I realize some people talking about using the latest driver are on Hackintosh systems, and maybe in that scenario, the latest release driver works better. I don’t know. But in a Mac environment, you need to use the DeckLink driver that comes packaged with the Resolve dmg file, and that is currently version 7.9.2.

Resolve can control network panels. The JL Cooper panels are Ethernet network based.

Since it says the 4000 driver will be removed, I assume this will stop the card from being recognized as a usable GPU by Resolve. So this will impact Resolve operation until you load a 10.6.7 compatible 4000 driver. If you are also using a 4000 as your GUI display card, the recovery process looks more painful.

We recommend that both GPU cards be of the same type.
