The Zoom Blur is closer to what I need but that has to distort the image to work.

Also, I want the motion that’s blurred to be determined by the movement of the entire image, not movement within the image.

Yeah, apparently there is no real way to do this. The closest thing I was able find was in Quicktime under Window > Show Movie Properties > Video Track (tab)

There is a box in the lower left hand corner for adding a Mask and the composting mode selector is directly below that.

I was able to add the logo as a mask (as I had wanted to do) but I was unable to get it to look good. I believe it was because my logo had drop shadow that faded to transparency. I bet it would work if it there were no gradients though.

Ah, that makes sense. So I guess the best thing to do it just keep the FCP Compatibility box checked on my system and hope that other people do as well.

You know, I always thought that H.264 had horrible color shifting too so I started using X264 to get around this. Turns out H.264 looks great, it was my QT settings that were off!

Hmmm… but I guess that brings up a few other questions.

Is that check box something available to anyone with QT or is it just QT Pro?

FCP Compatibility is not checked by default so I’m assuming anyone I give the QT to I would have to tell about that setting if I wanted them to see it in it’s correct form?

Is there a way to force FCP to export with one color setting so there will be no color variations across all systems / applications?

I’m pretty sure I’ve seen this done with subtitles before. I guess they were added with a different program after export from FCP then?

Ah, good workaround; I didn’t even consider this.

It is surprising, though, that FCP doesn’t allow you to Sync to In Points when adding a new Multiclip Angle. I guess this is why we keep buying the upgrades.
