Purchase and download Quicktime M-peg 2 playback.
The Squared5 website should have instructions all over it for converting video and audio files from many sources, including DVDs, to various formats, like Quicktime Movie files.Following the instructions, you would import the relevant video and/or audio files from the DVD disc into the Streamclip converter, choose the format you wish to output to – which in this case would be Quicktime Movie – and start the conversion process. When it’s done you will have a Quicktime Movie file of the DVD video which is obviously compatible with Final Cut.

I have also posted Quicktime files to an FTP site in the past.
It took about 20 minutes to copy a seven minute QT file to an FTP site at 320 x 240 frame size.More recently I have used YouSendIt.com for video posting but, again, I have only copied WMV files since they take less time to up- and download.

Many Internet service providers restrict the size of e-mail attachments. Comcast does not allow attachments of any type over 10mb.
Through Flip4Mac I usually convert Quicktime files to WMV files, which compress much smaller than QT. A 6 minute WMV file is about 9mb.

I use Mpeg Streamclip (www.squared5.com) and Quicktime Mpeg 2 Component for conversions.
When I import any type of analog video – VHS, U-matic, Betacam SP, Hi-8 – I play it from the analog device through my DAC-15 converter or Canon XL2, then into my PowerBook or PowerMac.
