    Ahtz! Minghia!

I had the same problem, only it worked fine before but did what you said so eloquently 😉 I don’t know, sometimes it fades to black fine, (I normally use Mike’s method anyway so that wouldn’t help), and sometimes it gets all weird, usually if I add text with an effect on it at the very end.

I haven’t tried it, but as I said in my 2nd edit, it seems to be a problem for a lot of people so it is definitely not anything I’m doing. As I said, I even uploaded a clip with no post processing and it upped the red channel.

For future reference where do I find my current color space/display? If you haven’t read any of my previous posts you wouldn’t know that I’m a complete amateur/home hobbyist, not a pro.

I would just like to add that I’ve uploaded the same video to Vimeo and am getting the same result. How can this be? I also tried viewing the video in different browsers.

EDIT: I just uploaded the video using IE10 instead of Firefox (I’d been using Chrome up until last week, I figured that may have been the problem) and there is still a purple color cast. I even included a clip in which I did no post processing and even that shows a shift in color. At my wit’s end here. Hard enough learning this stuff without having to troubleshoot a problem which makes no sense at all and just started happening this past week.

EDIT 2: Well, after MUCH research it seems I’m not the only one with this problem and it has been going on for years. So I’ll leave this up for others edification.

Yes, even I, an amateur, know the sting of Neat VIdeo dragginess. On the rare occasions that I use it I have to turn it off while doing my other tweaks or else it takes forever to do anything; adjust white balance, sharpness, anything. I turn it back on when I’m ready to render. The other day I rendered a 14 minute video (without Neat) in about 28 minutes on my not even close to being professional work station.

I’d be curious to hear what kind of results you get if you render that 15 minute video with Neat Video turned off.

Correct me if I’m wrong (which I probably am since I’m an amateur doofus) but isn’t that info available in the “info” tab? Highlight the clip in the timeline (yes, the timeline) and the info for that clip shows up in the “info” tab. At least it does for h264 .MOV files

  • Thanks! Just to clarify for people who are as dense as me, you should place the playhead at the end of the timeline first, THEN highlight the end cut of the adjustment layer and hit “e”.

    Cheers!

Have you tried using the Youtube 1080p preset?

Personally I’d love to know what settings Jimmy Kimmel’s people use. Videos from his show look great even at 480p.

I know exactly what you’re talking about. I always wanted my footage to look like the Avengers movie of a few years ago.

It’s only since I started this thread that I’ve learned that you can’t do with h.264 footage what you can do with the uncompressed formats. I guess I was fooled by all those “This commercial was shot on a Canon T3i” tv commercials of a few years back.

I will be approaching post production of my footage in a completely different way from now on.

Ah, ok. That may be where my downfall is, I’m sharpening my video too much in post. The other day I saw an article that said something like “Are you sure you’re looking for a “film” look?” and pointed out that people consider “Skyfall”, for instance to be shot on film when it is actually digital. I like that razor sharp look but I’m probably fooling myself into thinking my own footage isn’t achieving that effect.

Anyway, I’ve taken enough of your time and you’ve given me plenty of useful information.
    Cheers!

  • Sorry. I just assume everyone on this board works with Spielberg 😉

btw, other than the color flicker when using morph cut I don’t recall having any quality issues with my footage, and I’ve got a less than state of the art computer with an Intel 3D graphics card!
