It does seem to be buggy. I start with a start time of 30:00 and select decelerate for the interpolation, which makes since to me. The countdown starts as it should, but then seems to generate numbers that start to go up, then down etc. never reaching 00:00. I have tried it in Boris and AVID FX, which crashes my system, but the result is the same. Are there any other settings I should be using? Any ideas?

    Thanks for your help.

I’m on the same system he did the original on and there is a lot of Boris in the project, but it all seems normal except this one effect. However, I think you are on the right track. When I try to open any of the Boris effects I get a message that says something about it being a different version of Boris. Then it goes on and opens Boris anyway. Is it possible that we have upgraded our Boris and its not backward compatable? Thanks for the idea, I’m sure it has something to do with Boris.

Thanks, I’ll try that. I usually use Boris instead of AVIDFX, but I think your suggestion makes sense. Great idea.

Spectramatte is the way to go. Also make sure the green screen is light well – flat even light on the bg.

Great idea. Why didn’t I think of it. You always come up with the simple way to do things. I’ll try it this afternoon after this mess I’m in right now!!

    Thanks,

I just finished a Spanish translation project and it was the easiest one I’ve ever done because the narrator was a producer as well and understood how to “short cut” the Spanish to make it fit the video. I sent him a quick time of the english version and he did the translation and sent me an mp3 track. All I had to do was lay it in and with a few tweaks it fit perfectly. Finding a Spanish speaking television person instead of an actor is really great. If you have the possibility I suggest you give it a try. I could give you his name if you want to contact me off the forum.

Thanks for the suggestions. I think I have found the answer. The output tool was set to RT DV25 when it should have been set to RT DNA. That solved a problem with output of 4 channels from the timeline, and hopefully the distortion problems as well. I haven’t had time to check that out yet.

Thanks Peter! I feel so much better now…. It’s awful to forget something so simple!

It would be fun to run the film through your gloved hands again or hold it up to a light and see throught it, but to actully do it for production…no.
However, if you want a book try looking in a library. I found Lenny Lipton’s 16mm handbook after it was way out of print in the library and simply didn’t return it. (I did pay the fine!). As said earlier, I don’t think you are going to be able to find the gear in any usable shape. Good luck.

Yes, we just went to Procoder 3 and it doesn’t give you the choice in the drop down that Procoder 2 had. I sent a msg. to Grass Valley and they tell me there is a way to set it, but I can’t figure it out. Why they would only give you the Upper Field First option is beyond me.
