Vegas uses a “SPLIT” (S key) in the same way Premiere has a razor tool.
To which codec are you attempting to render? Some codecs are very specific about frame sizes.

Other than the motherboard and Matrox RT card, I’ve got an identical system. No problems running Vegas (or Production Suite) whatsoever.
There’s something a whole lot wrong with how your system is set up than just Vegas, I’ll bet money on it. Having run Vegas on well over 100 machines in the past few years, ranging from crummy laptops to the most high end prototype systems…it’ ain’t Vegas.Specifically, exactly what messaging are you getting? You’re using Vegas 8a, yes?

Track Motion will give you the full frame at whatever size you wish it to be, including distortions of the original frame.

Vegas 8 will properly open the Vegas 5 project, but be aware that once it’s been opened in 8, you won’t be able to open it again in Vegas 5. Make a duplicate before saving it in 8.

Drag the clips to timeline.
Trim as needed.
File | Save As | Copy Trimmed Media.
Add a couple seconds for handles, and you’re done.

Yes, I’ve done it. No, it doesn’t look so hot. You’re taking one highly compressed format, and transcoding to another highly compressed format.
What I *haven’t* done is converted WMV to VC1, which is BD compliant. I don’t know how that would encode, but WMV to MPEG 2 or AVCHD looks pretty washed out and loses edges.Douglas Spotted Eagle

Use the end action to send them back to the menu you’d like them to see.
If it helps you, right click the menu in the DVD Properties window, and rename it. That’ll help you find it in the End Action dropdown.Douglas Spotted Eagle
