Cutting a project down to size
I have just returned from a long holiday where I shot a lot of footage & wish to chop the amount of video down to something more managable before starting editing it & wished to know if this s reasonable proposition. I do have have lots of hard drive space.
Start by capturing everything. Drag onto the timeline only clips that you could poosibly see ever using in a project & leave out all technically poor shots of your foot etc along with shots that were almost duplicted because you shot it for a second or third time from a better angle etc?
Render out your as new AVI files & save project with trimmed clips. Then start provect again using just the trimmed clips. I’m assuming that making this new set of AVI files won’t reduce the quality in any way. Is this correct?
Taking this approach should mean that The second stsrt of the project would have maybe less than 30% of the size it originally stared with.
The only download that I can see is that the new AVI clips won’t have the correct time date stamp on them.
Thanks in advance
