  • Upgrading to Vegas 8 Pro and Old Vegas Projects

    Hi all,
I’m in the dark ages still using Vegas 5.0/Architect 2.0, but I took advantage of the upgrade offer from Sony and purchased Vegas Pro 8. Now I’m concerned about loading it because there are a couple of projects (Vegas and Architect) that I’m not quite ready to lose.

What happens to old projects when you upgrade? Are the project files from 5.0 still usable in Vegas 8? Will Vegas 8 link to project media?

    Thanks in advance.

Vegas 8 will properly open the Vegas 5 project, but be aware that once it’s been opened in 8, you won’t be able to open it again in Vegas 5. Make a duplicate before saving it in 8.

The only problem I had opening Vegas 6 projects in Vedas 8 was the “media Generated” stuff like Boris did’nt load. I opened Vegas 6 and removed the media generated stuff from the time line, “saved as” something else and Vegas 8 open it.

Thanks Spot and Craig. If you guys feel like it…I recently posted an audio key framing question as well. I promise to take a break from questions after that.
