Platinum version outputs to a monitor via firewire.
“breakout boxes” are a thing of the past. If you mean a converter that will convert digital to analog, yes…the ADS or Canopus boxes work very well for this, or you can use most DV camcordes. Bear in mind that this won’t work for HDV. HDV requires either SDI output (not supported in Platinum) or DVI/second monitor out (Semi-supported in Platinum).Douglas Spotted Eagle

Question for you…since they’re running it at a biz meeting anyway, why not just keep it at 320 x 240 as a project, and let the projector size it in relationship to the screen? It’ll likely look better anyhow, and then there is no upsampling to deal with. If they want to distribute on a DVD, you’ll have to upsample, but if it’s not *necessary*, why do it?

if you want to output the Apple H.254 codec found in QTPro in a QTcontainer, you’ll need to do it in QTPro. You can output to QT and MPEG4 in Vegas without QT Pro.

In only helps if you’re changing the temporal AND spatial characteristics of the frame. It won’t benefit from spatial changes-only.

Nope. It’s a terrible weakness of the titler, IMO. You can’t reapply attributes across the timeline.

A-you can’t capture video over USB. RTFM. Firewire is the only way to reliably Xfer video to your hard drive.
B-What your camera shoots, is a digital transfer to the hard drive. NOTHING is done to the file in the Xfer process.
C-Grasp the small bar beneath the capture window and drag it down. The capture window will re-size to your heart’s content.
This will not affect capture quality/image quality. It *might* cause skipped/dropped frames if your computer is slow.
No matter what, video coming from your camcorder is 720 x 480. How your capture window displays that, or your preview window in Vegas displays that, is entirely selective by you. You can have various sizes/resolutions/framerates in Vegas, depending on how you choose to work.
However, by default, Vegas always opens a DV project, which means it perfectly matches the 720 x 480 that your DCR-HC90 records and outputs.Douglas Spotted Eagle

You can expand windows in the docking area to find it and drag it back off, you can reset Vegas by holding CTRL+SHIFT when booting Vegas (this resets all preferences, BTW).

Aurally, anything is possible.
Open a 5.1 project, put a single file on the timeline, start to fly sounds around. It’s somewhat self-evident at that point. If you like playing in 5.1, a good sound library is a nice investment.Douglas Spotted Eagle

Whatever you shot on the camera is exactly what you’re seeing in Vegas. “Capture” is merely data Xfer. Nothing happens to the vid when it’s Xferred from tape or card to the computer’s HDD.
More likely, you’ve got your preview window sized small, set to something other than Preview/Auto or Preview/Full, and you’re seeing downsampled footage instead of the real thing.
Watch the footage from your Explorer or Trimmer, it’ll look exactly the same as it does in the camera or on the television.Douglas Spotted Eagle

Quicktime Pro isn’t a codec, it’s a tool. You can already render to several codecs for a quicktime container in Vegas.
